And now introducing, your Hungry Hungry Hip Girls!
Food is one of my main loves in life, along with my cats and travel. I firmly believe a well cooked and well presented meal is one of the singular joys of life. As I’ve gotten older and taken on learning how to cook, I’ve found my greatest joy to be in sharing the work I put into my food with others (after all, the biggest asset of food is its design to be shared with others), as well as collaborating with others to enjoy a meal together (especially with my hungry gal Nika). I love the satisfaction of working with my intuition and ingredients to create beautiful, delicious things to share. But, I also love hot dogs, which is sort of the opposite of that, so I’m really not that fancy.
I think Anthony Bourdain said it best when he wrote, “That without experimentation, a willingness to ask questions and try new things, we shall surely become static, repetitive, moribund.“I’ve always had an intense and passionate relationship with food, and have enjoyed cooking for over a decade, but now I’ve finally cultivated enough of an understanding of ingredients and flavor–as well as a strong sense of self-confidence–to step outside of my comfort zone and go balls-out with my food. I want to practice, and practice, and practice, until my skills are honed, my knife is sharpened, and I’m unstoppable. My kitchen is my battleground, and cooking is one of the things that shapes me. On a lighter note, I look forward to the day I finally own my own cast-iron skillet and some sexy, sexy wooden cutting boards.
